The Critical Importance of Divine Wisdom
Spiritual misinformation seems at an all-time high right now. But spiritual misinformation has been present throughout the entire history of mankind. Many thousands of books, and tens of millions of pages of sermons, essays, religious philosophy are filled, cover-to-cover, with sincere but misinformed statements about the nature and the purpose of the soul.
Every religious and spiritual teacher is doing God’s work, and most of these teachers are beautiful, spiritually minded, and sincere people. But that doesn’t mean that they understand the deepest truths.
Moreover, if they don’t have a naturally, strong grasp of divine wisdom then their writing and their discourse could, accidentally, mislead and misinform the general population as well as the disciples and students that follow them.
According to many of the greatest saints including Kabir, Guru Nanak, Soami Ji and Kirpal, the most obvious cause for this enormous volume of half-truth and shallow wisdom, is the lack of inner spiritual progress for most writers, teachers, philosophers, and lower-level saints.
When these great saints talk about inner progress, they are only talking about the non-cognitive, conscious experiences of the soul in the highest celestial/heavenly regions of pure consciousness.
From their exalted perspective, it is only these types of extremely rare souls that we should be listening to - if we want to become divinely enlightened.
There are millions of wonderful yoga teachers, light workers and direct awareness teachers that can help new seekers to become more spiritually minded, and to experience short periods of empty mindfulness and increased joy, love, and freedom.
If you’re happy with the spiritual path that you’re currently following now, then there is no need to change your current faith or spiritual practice. If it resonates with you, then stick with it. At some later point in time, if some other religion or a new spiritual path, or a different way of worshipping seems to call out to you, then your life might be telling you to investigate it.
I’ve always felt that the most important thing to do in life is to follow your heart. If it becomes highly resonant when you’re looking at a new spiritual path, then it might be worthwhile to take a closer look at it.
Higher Level “Param” or “Celestial” Saints
But spiritually minded experiences are much different than natural experiences in pure consciousness. True eye center experiences are ten times more phenomenal than experiences in spiritually minded awareness.
But the experiences of Divine Awareness, that Kabir, Guru Nanak, and Kirpal Ji are about a million times greater than spiritually minded experiences.
Saint Kabir Das (1398-1518) worked diligently, albeit politely, to push the reset button on spiritual misinformation. He was the first great saint to define multiple levels of divine consciousness. He defined 18 distinct levels and loudly proclaimed that only the greatest saints who had learned how to abide in all these various regions of enlightened consciousness, were qualified to teach the path to celestial consciousness.
Guru Nanak (1469-1539) lived during the same timeframe and lived in the same general region as Kabir. Guru Nanak was the founder of the great Sikh spiritual path. Like Kabir, he referenced the 18 various regions of divine consciousness, but likewise did not explain them in any level of detail. Guru Nanak wrote a book called Jap Ji which eventually became the heart of the Adi Granth, the sacred Sikh scriptures on the teachings about divine enlightenment. I’ve given more than 2,000 talks based on these teachings. It’s an incredibly beautiful book that also contains many poems that were written by Kabir. Guru Nanak also had the same beliefs and definitions as Kabir of what it takes to become a “Param Saint.”
Kirpal Singh (1894-1974) was a modern “Param” Saint who taught the same path as both Kabir and Guru Nanak. He also had the same definition of Param, or celestial saints.
I’m not a Taoist, or a Sufi, a Sant Mat mystic, or a celestial consciousness guru. I’m just an old man, riddled with many faults, who teaches the same mystic path as the ancient Taoist sages and these 3 great Sant Mat teachers. My terms and my outlook are more modern and more western. But my core beliefs are almost identical.
The Kabir, Kirpal and Nanak definitions of Param Saints
The following audio podcast, by myself, is based on the teachings of Kirpal Singh in his book entitled: “The Jap Ji, the Message of Guru Nanak.”
In Summary
There are many distinct levels and types of saints, but according to some of the greatest Celestial/Param Saints, the highest and most divine teachers are the sages who have been able to abide in all the heavenly regions for great lengths of time. This includes the heavenly regions of Creative Consciousness, Active Celestial Consciousness, and Source/Nirvana Consciousness.
Thus, saints who have reached these levels of divine awareness:
Can abide in Samadhi for weeks and/or months at a time
Can talk for hours about celestial consciousness
Can talk for hours about multi-dimensional awareness
Can talk for hours about the creative process of the entire cosmos
Often talk about all 18, or 22, levels of celestial consciousness
Never suggest that the guru is greater than God
Never claim that the guru creates the miracles that disciples experience
Never claim that the guru can take his/her disciples back to heaven
Never teach that Love, or the guru-bhakti is the only way to heaven
Can properly teach new seekers how to achieve divine enlightenment
Can properly teach new seekers how to meditate
If you find a spiritual path that fills your heart with love and joy, then stick with it. But if you’ve been blessed with an “Urge to Merge” into divine awareness, then find a highly enlightened teacher, or saint, who can help you on your spiritual path to celestial awareness.
